As I was researching the different ways to promote books on social media, I learned a few things; first I know nothing about social media other than Facebook, I know nothing about how to set up an Facebook author page and place ads, and Pinterest gives me anxiety. I don’t understand it. Maybe it’s just me or maybe I’m just getting too old to learn. Maybe when my granddaughter turns six she can manage my social media for me.
So anyway, one author says he does not talk about his books. He posts jokes and daily affirmations. He says that is his “brand” and to find your brand.
That got me to thinking what would my brand look like? Would it pertain to me as a person or a business? They are similar but perhaps, a little different.
I think as a person my brand would be the following:
Unedited—I would not have someone checking my grammar, punctuation, etc. It is what it is and I am what I am. Integrity. Kind. Considerate. Funny. Sarcastic.
I think my brand as a business would be similar but I definitely would be edited! Professional. Integrity. Reliable. I don’t think funny and sarcastic would be included unless I wrote for a comedian or a sitcom. What would your brand be? Would there be a difference between yourself as a brand and a busin
